All papers must be submitted via EasyChair to ICAETA-2023. It is mandatory that all authors must format the paper according to the Springer's LNCS paper format. Papers should be written in English. Publication & Indexing

Accepted papers that meet quality requirements will be submitted for inclusion to Springer book series Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) (final approval pending). CCIS is indexed in well known databses such as SCOPUS, DBLP, SCImago, etc. For more details, click the following link.


On behalf of the entire Local Committee, we would like to invite you to the International Conference on Advanced Engineering, Technology and Applications (ICAETA), which will be held from March 10-11, 2023, in Turkey. The conference is co-organized by Istanbul Universit-Cerrahpaşa, Turkey and University of Catania, Italy.

The conference will also provide a unique opportunity for sharing experiences from different backgrounds with a common interest in advanced methods in the above-mentioned fields. The scientific program of ICAETA 2023 will include the presentation of invited plenary talks, regular sessions, poster sessions and some special sessions. ICAETA will serve as an essential arena where academicians, scientists, researchers and industry professionals from multiple disciplines around the world can present their research results and share ideas.

Authors are invited to submit full papers for consideration in the conference. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least three independent reviewers. Only accepted papers will be presented in the conference and published in the conference proceedings. The acceptance will be based on originality, significance and technical soundness.

ICAETA offers a forum for researchers proposing solutions meeting the operational needs of industryto meet the industry's operational needs. The conference is hence targeted both at researchers working on innovative technology and experts developing tools in the field. The goal of the conference iconference aims to attract papers investigating the use of technology outside the controlled environment of research laboratories. It intends to offer a venue for theory and data-driven techniques.

Dr. Mubashir Husain Rehmani (M’14-SM’15)

Mubashir Husain Rehmani (M’14-SM’15) received the B.Eng. degree in computer systems engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan, in 2004, the M.S. degree from the University of Paris XI, Paris, France, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree from the University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris, in 2011. He is currently working as Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Munster Technological University (MTU), Ireland. Prior to this, he worked as Post Doctoral Researcher at the Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG), Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), Waterford, Ireland. He also served for five years as an Assistant Professor at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Cantt., Pakistan. He is serving as an Editorial Board Member of NATURE Scientific Reports. He is currently an Area Editor of the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. He served for three years (from 2015 to 2017) as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. He served as Column Editor for Book Reviews in IEEE Communications Magazine. He is appointed as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Green Communication and Networking. Currently, he serves as Associate Editor of IEEE Communications Magazine, Elsevier Journal of Network and Computer Applications (JNCA), and the Journal of Communications and Networks (JCN). Two books with Springer, two books published by IGI Global, USA, three books published by CRC Press – Taylor and Francis Group, UK, and one book with Wiley, U.K. He received “Best Researcher of the Year 2015 of COMSATS Wah” award in 2015. He received the certificate of appreciation, “Exemplary Editor of the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials for the year 2015” from the IEEE Communications Society. He received Best Paper Award from IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Communications Systems Integration and Modeling (CSIM), in IEEE ICC 2017. He consecutively received research productivity award in 2016-17 and also ranked # 1 in all Engineering disciplines from Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST), Government of Pakistan. He received Best Paper Award in 2017 from Higher Education Commission (HEC), Government of Pakistan. He is the recipient of Best Paper Award in 2018 from Elsevier Journal of Network and Computer Applications. He is the recipient of Highly Cited Researcher™ award thrice in 2020, 2021, and 2022 by Clarivate, USA. His performance in this context features in the TOP 1% by citations in the field of Computer Science and Cross Field in the Web of Science™ citation index. He is the ONLY Researcher from Ireland in the field of “Computer Science” who received this International prestigious award. In Oct 2022, he received Science Foundation Ireland’s CONNECT Centre’s Education and Public Engagement (EPE) Award 2022 for his research outreach work and being a spokesperson for achieving a work-life balance for a career in research.

Dr. Paulo Vitor de Campos Souza

Title: Interpretable evolving fuzzy neural networks: enabling user understanding and interaction with intelligent systems.

Dr. Paulo Vitor de Campos Souza has Doctor in Technical Sciences at Johannes Kepler University Linz – JKU- Austria. Master in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2015)- Brazil. Graduated in Information Systems from Centro Universitário UNA (2009) with and Specialization in Informatics – Emphasis in Software Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is an Information Technology-Development Analyst at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais – CEFET-MG. Author of more than 30 conference papers and high-impact journals on artificial intelligence and fuzzy systems. He worked as a professor of undergraduate courses at the UNA Faculty of Betim in Brazil. His main research interest is focused on intelligent hybrid models, mainly evolving Fuzzy neural networks. Data mining and binary pattern classification problems are also of interest.

Dr. Gabriella Casalino

Dr. Gabriella Casalino is currently an Assistant Professor at the CILab laboratory of the department of Informatics, University of Bari, working on machine learning techniques applied to Web Economy domain. This position has been funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (M.I.U.R.) through an European funding project.
Her research activity is focused on Computational Intelligence with a particular interest for data analysis. Three are the main themes she is currently working on: 1)Intelligent Data Analysis 2)Computational Intelligence for eHealth, 3)Data Stream Mining.
Topics in which she has produced original contributions include: image analysis, educational data mining, text mining, e-health, bioinformatics and signal processing.
She is active in the computer science community as a reviewer for international journals and conferences. She is also involved in the organizing committees of international conferences. She is Associate Editor of Journal of Intelligent and Fuzzy Systems and she is Guest Co-Editor of several journals. She was visiting researcher at Universitè de Mons (Belgium), at the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) and the University of Ghent (Belgium).
She is Senior member of IEEE society and she was awarded with the FUZZYIEEE best paper award.

Title: Digital healthcare for Internet of Medical Things.

Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases are the first cause of death in Italy. There is a need for continuous monitoring of patients at risk. Telehealth systems, together with smart objects, are able to create assisted environments where patients are remotely and continuously monitored by the medical staff.
Conventional methods for measuring cardiovascular parameters use skin contact techniques requiring a measuring device to be worn by the user. To avoid discomfort of contact devices, camera-based techniques using photoplethysmography have been recently introduced. Nevertheless, these solutions are typically expensive and difficult to be used daily at home. In this talk I will show you an innovative solution for monitoring cardiovascular parameters that is low cost and can be easily integrated within any common home environment. The proposed system is a contact-less device composed of a see-through mirror equipped with a camera that detects the person’s face and processes video frames using photoplethysmography in order to estimate the heart rate, the breath rate and the blood oxygen saturation. In addition, the color of lips is automatically detected via clustering-based color quantization. The estimated parameters are used to predict a risk of cardiovascular disease by means of fuzzy inference rules integrated in the mirror-based monitoring system.

Prof. Dr. Sabri Arik

Dr. Sabri Arik received the Dipl.Ing. degree from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey, in 1989, the Ph.D. degree from London South Bank University, London, U.K., in 1994, and the Habilitation degree from Istanbul University, in 2000.,Since 1989, he has been with Istanbul University. From 2011 to 2014, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Art and Science, Isik University, Istanbul. He is currently a Full Professor with the Department of Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa, Istanbul. He has authored or coauthored more than 70 publications. His current research interests include cellular neural networks, nonlinear systems, and matrix theory.,Dr. Arik is a member of the IEEE Technical Committee of Cellular Nonlinear Networks and Array Computing. He is also a Board Member of Asia Pacific Neural Network Society. He was a recipient of the Outstanding Young Scientist Award in 2002 from the Turkish Academy of Sciences, the Junior Science Award in 2005 from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, and the Frank May Prize (Best Paper Award) in 1996 from London South Bank University. He serves as the Associate Editor for the journals Neural Networks, Neurocomputing, Neural Processing Letters, and Mathematical Problems in Engineering. He has been included in the Highly Cited Researchers list by Thomson Reuters in 2014.
